Hi, my name is Rosemary, but please call me Roe.
I’m really looking forward to learning from you and working with you in the time we share together.
I’m a Mum of three children who have now entered that ‘fascinating’ world of being teenagers. I say that with a smile because I can remember my teenage years so vividly.
Children are a gift. They are ‘on loan’ for a short period of time. There are so many priceless things we can learn from our teenagers, if we take the time to look.
Teenagers & Families
My passion has always been working with teenagers and their families to ‘make a difference’.
I fondly remember the young person that I worked with who had come from a war torn country and his father had been a prisoner of war. ‘James’, in his short 13 years of life, had seen so many atrocities that we could never imagine. ‘James’ coped by ‘pulling his hoody over his head’ and not speaking. When he was asked a question or if you tried to engage him in a conversation, he would just mutter under his breath. Eight weeks of intensive work turned his life around. ‘James’ now had a purpose, a plan to move forward to achieve his goals. At the program’s graduation night, ‘James’ stood up of his own accord and spoke to each person about the difference they had made in his life. His heartfelt messages were humbling. There was not a dry eye in the room.
One of my strong beliefs is that anyone, irrespective of their current circumstances, can ‘turn things around’ to make a better life for themselves.
I am a teacher by trade, with Special Education qualifications. Other qualifications include Family Therapy, NLP and being accredited to deliver various training programs.
I have worked in primary and secondary schools and special education settings, initially as a teacher and then as an Assistant Principal. Other experience includes working in senior leadership positions for various Australian government departments, local government and non-government organisations.
My experience spans more than twenty years working with teenagers and their families from 'all walks of life'.
More importantly though, apart from this experience, is being a Mum of 3 teenage children, aged 16, 15 and 13 years, because I 'walk the talk' every day!
I look forward to working with you.
Together, we will ‘make a difference’
